Encoded are specialists in automated voice technologies, providing Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems for some of the world’s biggest brand names.

Automated payment collection, account balance & transfer and card activation are some of the services Encoded are able to provide to their customers. These form part of their Payments Suite of products which include online, agent and recurring payment solutions utilising card tokenisation throughout.

Encoded’s IVR systems act as an interface between a business' information systems and their customers, allowing data to flow to and from databases without the need for any human resource.

The technology can be adapted to create a range of general and more customised solutions for each of their clients.

The PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is a set of standards required to be met by any company handling and processing customer payment information. Merchants must adhere to the standards set out by the Security Standards Council and in order for them to be fully PCI DSS compliant, any third party company or technology that they use to help process payments in any way must also be fully compliant.

Any security breach of payment information could result in huge fines for the merchant as well as potentially damaging their reputation and therefore losing sales.

To help merchants to make the right choice when deciding on which payment processing companies to work with, Visa has created this Europe Merchants Agents List to allow merchants to check whether their third party payment solutions are PCI DSS compliant and what level they have achieved.

Encoded contacted Blackfoot UK as they were keen to achieve Level 1 PCI DSS compliance, which involves the company being assessed by an independent qualified security assessor. The Level 1 assessment is a better option for companies handling larger numbers of transactions than the Level 2 compliance, which is achieved by a self-assessment of security systems and processes.

One of our team members, Eddie Dynes completed the PCI DSS compliance audit for Encoded which involved a review of all of their security processes. Eddie carried out a range of penetration testing and application security assessments to expose any weakness and ensure these were resolved before a Level 1 PCI compliance certificate was awarded.
